According to the data of Electric Power Research Institute, in 2016, the installed capacity of the whole new energy vehicle drive motor was as high as 595,000 units, which was similar to the output of new energy vehicles. In terms of motor types, permanent magnet synchronous motors are still the mainstream, with an installed capacity of more than 450,000 units, accounting for 77%; The installed capacity of AC asynchronous motors exceeds 140 million units, accounting for 23%; Secondly, there are nearly 2,000 hybrid excitation synchronous motors and brushless/permanent magnet DC motors, accounting for only 1%. (For battery data, please refer to: In 2016, the power battery shipments reached 28Gwh BYD /CATL/ Waterma/Guoxuan accounted for 66%.)

It is worth pointing out that most of the motors in the field of new energy vehicles are AC motors, and a small number of vehicles are equipped with DC motors. The intuitive difference between the two is that the external power supply is different: one is DC and the other is AC. Structurally speaking, the principle of DC motor is relatively simple, but the structure is complex and inconvenient to maintain, while the principle of AC motor is complex but the structure is relatively simple and convenient to maintain. The DC motor has good speed regulation performance, and under certain load conditions, it can realize uniform and smooth stepless speed regulation, thus the speed regulation range is wide; The starting torque is up to, and the speed adjustment can be realized evenly and economically. Therefore, in the field of new energy, a small amount of installed capacity (nearly a thousand units) is mostly used for large vehicles such as buses. The AC motor is widely used in the field of new energy passenger cars because of its high working efficiency, relatively low noise and great advantages.

In the annual output distribution of new energy vehicles, there are a small number of vehicles equipped with more than two driving motors, among which the output of this part of vehicles in the passenger car field exceeds 25,000, with more than 50,000 motors. In the field of commercial vehicles, including passenger cars and special vehicles, the total number of motors is 34,000, and the types of motors are mostly concentrated in permanent magnet synchronous motors.

In 2016, the installed capacity of new energy vehicle motors was nearly 600,000 units, and permanent magnet synchronous motors accounted for 77%.

Among them, in the field of new energy passenger cars and commercial vehicles, the installed capacity of motors accounts for 57% and 43% respectively. In the field of new energy commercial vehicles, the installed capacity of drive motors in 2016 totaled 253,500 units, mainly permanent magnet synchronous motors, with a small number of DC motors distributed. Compared with the new energy bus and the pure electric special vehicle, the installed capacity is similar to the vehicle output. The installed capacity of the pure electric special vehicle is nearly 100,000, which is far less than the installed capacity of the new energy bus of 152,000. The installed capacity of the two vehicles accounts for 26% and 17% respectively.

The difference is that the types of driving motors carried by pure electric special vehicles are mainly concentrated in AC asynchronous motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors, and the installed capacity of the two types of motors remains roughly 3:2. The number of driving motors loaded on a single vehicle is basically only one. In the field of new energy buses, more than 4,000 buses are equipped with two drive motors (dual drive), which are concentrated in pure electric bus models such as BYD brand, Changjiang brand and Shenwo brand.

In 2016, the installed capacity of new energy vehicle motors was nearly 600,000 units, and permanent magnet synchronous motors accounted for 77%.

In terms of specific manufacturers, according to the ranking of installed capacity in 2016, it was found that the installed capacity of drive motors in the top 15 manufacturers exceeded 10,000 units, of which BYD was the only one with an installed capacity of over 100,000 units, ranking first in solitude, accounting for 23.2%; Secondly, the installed capacity of BAIC, Ganzhou Hengjiu Electric, Yutong, Anhui Juyi and United Automotive Electronics are all in the echelon of 20,000 units. The top six motor manufacturers have accumulated as many as 300,000 units, accounting for nearly 50% of the total, with a high concentration of production capacity. Most of the top manufacturers' products are mainly permanent magnet synchronous motors, and motor types including BAIC, Jiangling and Precision Electric cover permanent magnet synchronous motors and AC asynchronous motors. Among them, the output of Jiangling drive motors is mainly AC asynchronous motors, and the permanent magnet synchronous motors are relatively few. Ganzhou Hengjiu electric motors are also mainly AC asynchronous motors.

Among the top 15 manufacturers of drive motors in the field of new energy buses, the installed capacity has reached 111,000 units, accounting for 74%, with a high concentration. Among them, only two companies produce AC asynchronous motors, and the types of motors produced by other manufacturers are concentrated in permanent magnet synchronous motors. In the field of special vehicles, the cumulative installed capacity of the top 15 manufacturers reaches 86,000 units, accounting for 86% of the total installed capacity in the field of special vehicles, among which 5 companies produce AC asynchronous motors and 10 companies produce permanent magnet synchronous motors.
